"The chaps from the liberators played an afternoon set at our yearly cider festival in the summer. They felt the crowds mood and played a fun and enjoyable set that got everyone singing & dancing. We had many acts that day but at the end of it people were only talking about The Liberators.
100% would recommend and book again. 10/10"

About
The saga of the Liberators, a name derived from a fictitious spaceship from 1970's space opera Blake's 7, is one that dates back to 2011, under the entirely different pseudonym "Blueprint".
The brainchild of front-man Rob Moore and co-vocalist/guitarist Aaron Miles, the Bristol covers band was a concept put into practice just once during an end-of-college-year celebration. Whilst the aforementioned are the only two surviving original members, the band's personality has been shaped many times throughout its history and captured the hearts of many in all of its various incarnations.
Classic Rock acts such as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis formed the foundation for The Liberators to build their own personality and setlist upon. Eventually the setlist would migrate to far more modern Pop Rock acts such as Franz Ferdinand, Blur, The Killers and Arctic Monkeys, as well as including a middle ground of classic 70's / 80's artists like Kiss, Def Leppard and Queen.
Some of the best songs from many of your favourite Rock artists form the essentials of The Liberators' repertoire, but if it gets your toes tapping, your head banging or your fists pounding, you can be sure to find it at the show!

- Frontman -
I am the co-founder of the Liberators and have taken the helm as lead vocalist, frontman and manager since the journey began in 2011.
My greatest passion in life is to entertain people, which started as an unhealthy obsession with puppets, ventriloquism and making people laugh. I began to explore music during school and taught myself to sing, but never found the right crowd to expand on it. After I met Aaron and we collaborated on what would soon become The Liberators, my heart was set and the rest is history.
My stage presence is heavily influenced by Freddie Mercury and how he mesmerised and controlled his audience, and I use techniques inspired by John Bon Jovi. Plus, Queen and Bon Jovi wrote some absolute bangers!

- Co Frontman & Lead Guitar -
After being classically trained in piano from age 9, my musical background began to develop after I discovered bands such as Bullet for my Valentine and Disturbed in early secondary school - eventually being introduced to Metallica, Slayer and various other before-my-time Thrash metal bands. I subsequently taught myself to play the guitar & bass, drums, saxophone, violin and eventually how to sing.
My guitar & vocal style is heavily influenced by powerhouses like James Hetfield, Matt Heafy and Rob Flynn. I have played all sorts of instruments in all sorts of bands, but my forte is duo-fronting Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands, which I have done both locally and nationally for 8 years.
Having been a co-founder and co-frontman of The Liberators, I have experienced some tremendous times, received some fantastic feedback and seen some serious shenanigans. Looking forward to the next one is what keeps me going!

- Rhythm Guitar -
Inspired by the likes of Guns n Roses & Motley Crue, I picked up a multitude of instruments at an early age including guitar, drums and (very briefly) keyboards.
I eventually settled and stuck with playing bass and as a not so fresh faced 14-year-old I set up my first band. I proceeded to spend the majority of my teenage years soaking up everything that the Bristol music scene had to offer; playing in bands, spending most of my weekends at gigs & capturing it all on my entry level run of the mill camera.
When I heard The Liberators were looking for a new rhythm player in the back end of 2019 I jumped at the opportunity, learned to play the guitar and never looked back!

- Bass Guitar -
Music has been such an important part of my life from a very young age. Having begun my journey on piano I took trumpet lessons at the age of just 7, leading me to develop a wide range of traditional styles from classical to jazz and many more. It wasn't until I was 14 when I first picked up a bass guitar, and I took to it like a duck to water. The introduction of yet more contemporary genres followed - Big Band, Ska and Pop - allowing me to expand my musical knowledge and expertise in an even wider range of styles.
Having played countless gigs and functions in a variety of genres for over ten years, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to join the Liberators this year. I'm looking forward to getting back into the game and playing for you all!
Sam
- Drums -
After hearing my dad blast Metallica at the age of 11 and listening to Lars Ulrich's monstrous sound, I found my passion for playing drums, which had me taking lessons at the age of 12. After 3 years of playing I joined my first Heavy Metal band in secondary school, but have since been around the block with many bands of various genres which really opened up my style of playing. At the age of 16 I taught myself how to play guitar and I've been progressing musically ever since.
My love and respect for many genres has made it so easy to thoroughly enjoy every show we play as The Liberators since I joined back in 2018, and with so many great shows under our belt I'm excited to see what comes our way after lockdown ends!
